Miguel Hernández

A contemporary Nantucket artist Miguel Hernández has been acclaimed by Alanna Heiss, Clocktower Gallery Founder and Director, and MoMA PS1 Founder and former Director. Hernán­dez demonstrates “extraordinarily well executed … magic realism.” Most of Hernández’s pieces portrait underwater realism, inspired by a deep fascination with water, nature and the human being.

Hernández has over 18 years of experience as a decorative painter. He is known for perfectionism in his finishing work such as: Decorative works / Surface Designs / Wallpapers Installation / Custom Murals / Faux Finishing / Int-Ext Houses / Wood work. His New York clients include COACH leatherwear, REED KRA­KOFF and several independent contractors and business owners.

American/Dominican-born Hernández studied at the Parsons School of Design, where he was awarded by Tim Gunn the Bludhorn Scholarship by Altos de Chavón. After Parsons, Hernán­dez worked in the painting studio of Jeff Koons; in the design studios of Mark Mosters, Studio Izquierdo and Acadia Scenic; and as an art installer for MoMA. His work has been in galleries and museums in the Dominican Republic, Central America, Europe and throughout the United States, including Art Basel, Miami. Hernández is a member of the Nantucket Artists Association.

Tremendous professionalism and attention to detail have procured him jobs with noteworthy Nantucket decorative painters and designers such as Audrey Sterk of Audrey Sterk Designs. Hernández creates murals, paintings and unique surface treatments for interior design. He has done projects with Karen Ward of Nantucket Decorative Paintings and multiples designers, architect firms, Contractors and Property owners. Hernández runs his own business, as mhiD LLC / Miguel Hernández iDesigns, offering decorative paintings in all levels including: affordable painting services in all levels, spray paint on water and oil base.
